Johann Christian Bach: Symphony in G Minor, Op. 6 no. 6 / Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Adagio and Fugue in C minor, K. 546 / Joseph Haydn: Symphony No. 92, in G major, Hob I:92
In 1764, the 8-year-old Mozart visited London, where he met Johann Christian Bach, then the foremost musician at the English royal court, forging a deeply affectionate relationship with him. Bach’s youngest son influenced the young Mozart and this friendship lasted their whole lives. Upon learning of his death in 1782, Mozart wrote to his father: «what a terrible loss for the world of music!». Alongside an inspired symphony by Johann Christian Bach, the National Catalonia Youth Orchestra will perform Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue K. 546 by Mozart, influenced by the polyphonic writing of Johann Sebastian Bach. The concert will conclude with a symphony from Haydn, friend of Mozart.
